Intro

Hi.  I’m Sarah.  I’m a Registered Dietitian, who works in Chicago.  I have a Masters Degree of Science in Nutrition and Wellness, and I am a Registered Dietitian (a real credential, unlike a “nutritionist”).  I am employed in my field, I work in the area of Diabetes, and Diabetes self management, and plan to specialize in this area.

I’m here because I am a human, and I have a facebook, and a twitter, and I see patients.  I wonder so many times how people get the nutrition and health information that they do get.  I spend a lot of time shaking my head, and cursing people like Dr. Oz, and the news, and celebrity “nutritionists” and trainers.  [Disclaimer- Dr. Oz is renowned Cardiologist, I would take his advice regarding cardiovascular health all day everyday.  However, him giving nutrition advice is about the same as getting automotive advice from your gynecologist].

Dietitians are THE nutrition professionals.  I have no beef with other bloggers who like blog about what they do, and what works for them in terms of exercise and their eating patterns.  I view this much like a view religion.  Talk about what you like and what works for you all you want when you push it onto others- that is where the problem lies.

I’m not here to tell you what to do.  I’m here to provide information that is factual, and based in evidence, and some grains of my added common sense.

It’s your choice what to do from there.
